Rūta Ashcroft is a Sunningdale, Berkshire-based contemporary painter whose work moves between structure and spontaneity — the outer world of expectation and the inner world of feeling.

Working primarily in acrylic, she builds expressive texture, layered colour, and instinctive marks into abstract landscapes that translate emotion into pigment. Each painting begins as a release and resolves into something quieter - a reflection on calm, connection, and the freedom of making without rules.

Her work draws on the psychology of self-expression, the rhythms of the natural world, and the still spaces where thought meets emotion. The result is paintings that are at once introspective and optimistic: a celebration of honesty, imperfection, and renewal.

In March 2026, Rūta was named Artist of the Month at Egham Artisans, presenting a new body of work that explored emotional landscape, texture, and colour as forms of inner dialogue.
